Caldwell at SPOON’s Headquarters

Caldwell was in SPOON’s headquarters (Macedon, NY) today creating a  new product video for the launch at Glassbuilders 2011 in Atlanta, GA next month.  SPOON’s own Warehouse Manager Billy Tuffo demonstrated the ease of use of this new product.

SmartSource Rentals at SPOON New York

This week SPOON Exhibits & Events had a great opportunity to educate all SPOON staff about the new and upcoming AV solutions that SmartSource Rentals has to offer.  SmartSource traveled to SPOON Headquarters bringing their new and creative AV solutions with them allowing SPOON employees to experience the equipment first hand.

Cisco’s “Second Show” @ ISTE 2011

Our team returned from the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) show with pictures of happy Cisco customers and beautiful skyline views of Philadelphia!  SPOON assisted Cisco not only with their exhibit space at this large education-based show, but also a special customer reception held at Loews. 

With the way the trade show industry is changing, we think a lot more of exhibitors will begin to use these post-show events as big selling and customer interaction opportunities!  By the way, be sure to check out an article from our friends at Exhibitor Magazine  published a fantastic article about what they call “The Second Show” — we at SPOON tend to refer to this as a “customer/VIP reception”, or “Touch Point 3″.  But, I digress…

SPOON Events “met” with the Cisco team (via WebEx of course!) to determine the objectives and size of the event, and we recommended the Loews Philadelphia as the ideal venue.  This modern hotel is situated in the heart of Center City in Philly, a short, scenic stroll away from the Convention Center.  And, the 33rd floor event space features second-to-none views of the sky line.  All things considered, the perfect spot for a special customer reception immediately following the close of the trade show floor.

Of course, you can have the best event planned, but your intended guests need to know it’s happening!  To ensure attendance, Cisco sent out virtual invitations to their guest list, while SPOON prepared traditional paper invitations for booth staff to distribute throughout the day on show floor.

We put together some practical floral decor with local partner Carl Alan, and made sure the Cisco brand was present throughout the space via banner stands, GOBO lighting, table covers, beverage napkins, etc.  Guests were greeted by the SPOON team, who made sure to scan ISTE show badges to account for which guests were present, and they were gifted some Cisco branded takeaways, too.  A tasty menu was selected and top-shelf beverages were up for grabs, while a local musical trio brought an appropriate backdrop to conversation.

Event Re-Cap: Harper International Brand Launch

Geesh, we’re a little behind the 8-ball on this one…we never posted any details on our event for Harper International

Harper International, a thermal processing technology company and SPOON Exhibits client, approached us to assist them with an internal employee event in their Buffalo facility.  Harper has recently re-branded (we love the new logo & tagline!) and wanted to officially introduce their employees to the new look and feel during a special lunch reception. 

It was important to our client that we work within a budget and to not make any detail appear extravagant — this has become a popular request across our industry as budgets (thus benefits, hiring, payroll, etc.) have tightened in recent years.  We needed to make this hardworking team feel like they were a part of a new chapter of the business without making it feel like the expenditure was lavish.  And of course, we were up for the challenge…

We utilized a pretty raw space within one of their production/manufacturing buildings, which turned out to be a nice touch and very appropriate for the event.  We moved in some draped rounds with chairs and put together functional centerpieces — candy featuring the new red, white and black brand colors — that allowed everyone to bring a piece of the event home.  A kiosk of sorts was set up to allow employees to browse the new website, and we added some flat screen monitors to enhance the executive team’s  unveiling of the new brand identity.  The custom cake by Zilly Cakes was the perfect end to a healthy, catered lunch, and the firery candles were a great tie-in to the new tagline of “Spark the Future”!

Lights, Camera, (lots of!) Action: 360|365 Studio Party Re-Cap

SPOON Events is pleased to share and celebrate the success of The Studio Party, hosted by the 360|365 George Eastman House Film Festival and Young Lion Studios!

Over 300 guests (far exceeding the expected attendee level!) were treated to a Hollywood sound studio party experience, right here in our own backyard of Rochester. After valeting their cars and stepping past the search lights, guests walked into a unique studio set-up on Stage 1 featuring a boat, cameras, and special lighting, all very typical of what one might find at this full-scale sound studio. Additionally, very modern white lounge furnishings from Hank Parker, string lighting, and orchids helped bring the studio an elevated party feel. Caterers, Richie Rich Party Services, and the DJ, Jimmy C’s Music Machine, helped ensure the attendees had a fantastic time with unique finger foods, specialty 360|365 martinis and lots of music for dancing!

Everyone, from marketing director David Hamblin to a hearty group of local volunteers, deserves kudos for helping to celebrate Rochester’s enthusiastic film community at this event and throughout the festival!

A Mini HUG Preview from Tim King

Today’s the first day that all of our staff is back in town from San Diego…we’re having a great time sharing fun success stories, from belly dancers to zoo excursions to tasty food! It was a hectic week spent at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa, just north of San Diego, preparing, hosting, and cleaning up after the Hughes User Group conference. And our photographer, Tim King, agrees! Take a peek at his blog:

If you build it, they will come! Our Sand Castle at HUG…

The SPOON Events team has been busy on-site in Carlsbad/San Diego this week for a large user group conference.  Our client, Hughes Network Systems, asked us to put together a fun dinner event that would take attendees away from the conference hotel and allow them to experience all that the California coast has to offer.  We settled on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton with a beach-front event site, and we hired Archisand Professional Sand Sculptors to create a unique structure using our client’s brand.  And, it was a true success!  Check out what they created in this time lapse video, and if you’re just too excited to wait, skip ahead to the 2 minute mark.  More photos from San Diego will be on flickr soon!  Stay tuned….

SPOON Events assists the 360|365 George Eastman House Film Festival

The 360|365 George Eastman House Film Festival is underway here in Rochester!  SPOON Events was approached to assist with event management details for the Closing Night Studio Party, being held at Young Lion Studio (super cool location), and of course, we said yes!

We rented this orange sofa for our own booth at the 2010 Exhibitor show, and it quickly became a popular feature to our design and even brought people in off the aisles.
